Provides professional accounting services with specific responsibilities of oversight and reporting for the fixed assets, plant fund projects, debt service, and pledged revenue. Work closely with Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, and other departments to ensure accurate records and meet reporting deadlines. Assist departments with reconciliation of departmental records to UT ledgers, and assist accounting personnel with various accounting duties, report generation, data analysis, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities
-
- Identify, track, and report property to be considered as a University fixed asset. Maintain records and report on property value throughout useful life, including depreciation schedules.
- Responsible for accounting related to bond and debt activity, including journal entry preparation, bond draws and reporting.
- Coordinate and oversee activities related to physical inventory counting and observation. Work with University personnel in various departments to perform inventory observation, reconcile physical inventories to University records, and attach identification tags to assets.
- Oversees policies, procedures, and processing as it relates to fixed assets; system administrator of fixed asset system.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, reports and schedules.
- Respond to financial account inquiries by university personnel.
- Prepare schedules, entries, and footnotes for the annual financial statements and work with the auditors during their audit of the financial statements.
- Hire, train and supervise part-time accounting assistants.
- Maintain professional communication skills while interacting effectively with students, colleagues, university departments and outside agencies.
- Maintain deep understanding and knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as University policies, and how they apply to the University's accounting and finance processes and practices.
- Remain knowledgeable in accounting rules and regulations and assist with ongoing compliance with GAAP and GASB matters.
- Provide accounting support and guidance to various departments as assigned.
- Assist with financial reporting and reconciling activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- Two years' related experience in generally accepted accounting principles and procedures preferred.
- Working knowledge of data and transaction analysis, as well as preparing statements and reports, required.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing numerous projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a complex office environment, helping to create and foster an environment of professionalism, cooperation, service, and teamwork.
- Able to evaluate internal controls and implement changes to ensure proper control and asset protection.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office suite and associated financial statement programs. Banner Finance experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and exercise excellent human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with university employees and the public.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $56,000, with a desired start date of March/April 2026.
