AUTOMATION AMR/AGV ENGINEER
COMSTOCK PARK, MICHIGAN - LEAR ASI AUTOMATION DIVISION

As a member of the Automation team, the Automation AGR/AGV Engineer will be responsible forLeading, Supporting, Implementing, and Managing Automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.

As an AMR/AGV Engineer at Lear, you will play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining our autonomous mobile robot (AMR) and automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems across our manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for the installation, integration, and optimization of AMR/AGV solutions, ensuring seamless automation of material handling processes in both production and warehousing environments. This position requires expertise in robotics systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to support our commitment to technological advancement in manufacturing and logistics operations.

Automation AMR/AGV Role:



  • Lead the installation, configuration, and integration of AMR systems within Lear's manufacturing facilities
  • Design and implement custom solutions to optimize AMR/AGV performance in diverse operational environments
  • Develop and maintain control/ monitoring systems for AMR/AGV fleet across multiple facility types
  • Ensure seamless integration between AMR/AGV systems Lear MES systems
  • Configure AMR/AGV systems to support both production line material handling and warehouse operations



Qualifications:



  • Develop and design automation systems, incorporating system concepts, design elements, and traffic or machine interlocks.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex systems, including electrical, PLCs, navigation systems, sensors, logistics, and networking.
  • Assemble vehicles and systems as needed and provide on-site installation support.
  • Support the development of new AGV/AMR projects
  • Offer technical assistance to Lear facilities for automation and AGV projects.
  • Track issues/repairs and utilize escalation process
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with AGV navigation, control systems, and communication networks
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) activities, such as software updates, to ensure AGV reliability and performance
  • Analytical and decisive to define, evaluate and solve problems in an organized process
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with competency in computer and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to collaborate in team environments while maintaining individual duties effectively
  • Communication with suppliers/Integrators to aid in design decisions
  • Time management skills to reach design process milestones within the given timelines
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to customer sites to capture design info or assist installation
  • Prepare/manage concise technical documentation, including specifications and user manuals.


  • Essential Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
  • 3+ years' Experience with AMR/AGV systems
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills
  • System integration experience
  • Excellent communication abilities
