Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical design work for hydroelectric and fish passage systems. This position is open to candidates in the Pacific Northwest, either Portland, Oregon or Redmond, Washington. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment including working from the office and remotely. This position requires three days in-office. Salary: $87,000-$121,000/year (based on experience) Who You Are A licensed engineer (or willing and able to get a PE licensure within 2 years) with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Relationship-focused: Capable of working effectively with clients and team members while applying mechanical engineering skills from feasibility, analysis and design, and construction. Knowledgeable: The successful candidate will have machine design experience preferably facility design in oil systems, cooling and filtration water systems, HVAC systems, or other hydraulic/ pneumatic machinery. Must be capable of working in an integrated design environment and 3-D modeling for CFD, FEA, or MEP purposes. Hydroelectric design, consulting experience, or construction support while beneficial is not necessary. Additional Requirements
About the Position This position involves a combination of mechanical design tasks, typically dealing with unique design issues for fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, trash rakes, and hydroelectric balance of plant retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing hydroelectric projects as well as the design of new power stations with a future in customer-facing consulting work.
