Associate Director, Product Counsel Role Summary

The Associate Director, Product Counsel will hold a pivotal position within the Commercial Legal Team, partnering with the US TTR marketing and sales teams to drive the success of the TTR franchise across both healthcare professional (HCP) and consumer channels. In this role, you will be entrusted with partnering with and advising the business as they develop comprehensive strategies and tactics that harmonize with our overarching TTR franchise strategy and resonate effectively across all channels.

In addition, this role will help support the Strategic Account Management (SAM) Program Office on a range of transactional, and compliance matters related to Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), hospital systems, and other large organized customer accounts.

This position will require you to work in a matrix setting of a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization. The role reports to the Senior Director, Legal Commercial and collaborates closely with colleagues across Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Commercial, Patient Services, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, external vendors and outside counsel.

Summary of Key Responsibilities Strategic Legal Counseling
  • Provide comprehensive, high quality, practical legal advice and support to U.S. commercial and medical affairs teams based on applicable laws and regulations (including those that involve fraud and abuse and anti-kickback laws), industry standards, and Alnylam policies and guidelines
  • Analyze advertising and promotional materials, non-promotional disease awareness materials, and communications, training materials, speaker program materials, medical education activities, and advisory board content for the U.S. TTR market
  • Advise on field commercial and medical tactics and associated training
  • Identify, analyze and mitigate legal and commercial risks and advise relevant teams
  • Act as a business partner to the compliance team in connection with policy setting, training and other activities
  • Ensure consistency and compliance in legal guidance for field-based interactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of strategic agreements, including institutional customer agreements, health system pilot project agreements, data use/sharing agreements and agreements with third-party vendors supporting Strategic Accounts initiatives
  • Partner with legal colleagues to support general corporate, transactional, and other legal projects and initiatives as needed
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Assess programmatic risks and advise on laws including the Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, FDCA, False Claims Act, antitrust laws, and applicable state regulations.
  • Advise on the implementation of guardrails and monitoring plans for high-risk initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Compliance, Privacy, Regulatory, and Brand Legal teams to ensure a unified and proactive legal approach.
  • Serve as a legal advisor to the brand team responsible for overall HCP engagement strategy.
Qualifications
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school; admitted in good standing to at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant post-JD experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry (or law firm supporting such clients), including counseling on advertising and promotion.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic partner in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and judgment.

U.S. Pay Range

$208,200.00 - $282,400.00

The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
