Production Assistant - WS



Reports to: Production Supervisor

Supervises: NA

Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the department's Production Supervisor, the employee in this position leads the department in daily production following all established work and safety procedures.



Essential Job Functions



  • At the beginning of the shift, ensure all employees have their work assignments and understand the sequence and priority of work to be completed during the shift.
  • Monitor production throughout the shift, keeping production flowing by directing employees in essential work to be done.
  • Ensure safety protocols and policies are followed by department personnel.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for safety, quality, productivity and delivery improvements within the department.
  • Assist in identifying and providing training/cross-training for department employees.
  • Maintain open communications with the Production Supervisor as it relates to operator efficiency, quality, production and attendance.
  • Assume the role of the Production Supervisor during his/her absence.


Marginal Job Functions



  • Assist other personnel as time and knowledge permit.
  • Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions



  • Must be able to walk, stand and bend over a 10 hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work both planned and unplanned overtime.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Must be able to read, write and interpret/follow instructions.
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of computers.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must have the ability to operate and set up various types of production equipment used within the department.
  • Must be well organized and have attention to detail.
  • Must be able to professionally encourage and facilitate cooperation and teamwork within the department and throughout the organization to reach a common goal.
  • Must be able to comprehend and perform duties using established work and safety procedures.


Education and Work Experience



  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 - 3 years' production experience within the scope of the work of the department is required.
