The candidate will manage Liion cell product development from specification through production release, act as the primary engineering pointofcontact between OEM and Tier 1 cell suppliers, plan, coordinate, and execute technical deliverables with Tier 1 suppliers, support creation and updates of celllevel DFMEAs and develop, execute, and track DVP&R plans for performance, life, safety, and abuse testing. The candidate will also:
- Support PPAP readiness through data validation, documentation, and quality reviews.
- Analyze key performance metrics (energy, power, internal resistance, degradation, safety behavior).
- Maintain performance dashboards and share technical insights with crossfunctional teams.
- Contribute to crossfunctional activities with pack engineering, BMS, quality, and homologation teams.
- Support Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) with technical data and supplier inputs.
- Perform handson engineering tasks to support product maturity and launch readiness.
- Participate in design reviews, supplier technical meetings, and internal alignment sessions.
- Provide guidance on cell design architecture, including electrode design and materials selection.
- Support nextgeneration materials research, including highenergy chemistries and advanced electrolytes.
- Support and supervise dryelectrode coating development and scalability studies.
- Guide formation and aging advancements to improve efficiency and cell stability.
- Provide insights into formation curves, SEI optimization, and earlylife electrochemical behavior.
- Build, test, and characterize prototype Liion cells for development programs.
- Support automation improvements in electrode processing, assembly, and inline QC.
- Provide behindthescenes technical mentorship, training, and daily engineering support (nonmanagerial).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree field
- 8 or more years of relevant experience
- 7 or more years of experience in lithium-ion cell product development, cell design, or advanced cell R&D.
- Practical knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, CDRs, and product readiness deliverables.
- Deep understanding of electrochemical principles, cell degradation, electrode manufacturing, formation processes, and safety behavior.
- Experience with prototype cell builds, material evaluation, and hands-on lab testing.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical mentoring
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- Experience with dry coating processes, calendering optimization, electrolyte wetting, or formation engineering.
- Exposure to high-volume gigafactory-style cell manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of modeling tools (electrochemical models, COMSOL, MATLAB, ANSYS)
- Experience with automation, inline QC, or sensor-based process monitoring
