Storage Engineer I

Responsible for assisting in the support, installation and maintenance of the corporate data storage infrastructure and all associated hardware and software. Assists in installing and managing hardware, software and management tools. Competent to work on technical systems. Maintains effective communications with user departments and other support organizations. Strong customer focus and management of customer expectations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences. Ability to write clear proposals and technical documents and present to Senior Management

• 1. Assists in gathering user requirements, and develops and recommends IT hardware, software and tools solutions to satisfy user requirements.
• 2. Assists senior admin with provisioning data storage resources to accomplish project objectives.
• 3. Assists in implementation and support of Health System technical projects.
• 4. Assist senior admin for resolving problems concerning the data storage environment, contacting vendors for support when necessary, facilitating production application systems and resolving problems involving customers with optimum speed and efficiency
• 5. Tests, evaluates and installs new hardware, software and tools as they relate to the corporate data storage environment.
• 6. Assist in performing daily performance and event analysis.
• 7. Must integrate with ITS team in the installation and support of systems in the corporate environment.
• 8. Assists in the development of work and project plans, and can provide technical guidance for team members
• 9. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• 10. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with some night and weekend work

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or technical training with equivalent related experience in a large, corporate data storage environment

EXPERIENCE

At least three (3) years of experience in configuration, design, implementation, and monitoring of Storage Area Networks (SAN) and enterprise backup systems.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Experience and knowledge in the following areas: Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, Enterprise Backup Systems and Storage Resource Management. Experience with HP, EMC and Symantec data storage products preferred. Network data communications experience including knowledge of VLANs, Fibre Channel and TCP/IP required. High-availability fibre channel and clustering experience a plus. VMWare, Microsoft and AIX Operating System knowledge preferred. All areas require demonstrated, strong interpersonal communication skills. Experience in a large data storage environment with ability to handle numerous complex tasks at once is preferred
