This role will cover many geographies, asset classes, and investment types across real estate finance, working primarily with investment banks, asset managers, and peer life insurance companies.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Work as part of the commercial mortgage team to source, underwrite, and structure investments in syndicated loans and emerging real estate credit investments such as warehouse lines and borrowing facilities.
  • Help develop and maintain relationships across real estate finance and private credit markets, working with best-in-class asset managers, investment banks, life companies, and others.
  • Collaborate to develop and implement strategies for Pacific Life's growing real estate debt fund portfolio and loan partnership programs.
  • Assist in surveilling the portfolio of investments and analyzing their performance.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements for investments alongside senior investment personnel and legal counsel.
  • Prepare and deliver investment committee memos and presentations.
  • Collaborate with investment team members across real estate debt, equity, structured products, infrastructure, and private credit.
  • Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives to improve investment processes and systems.

The experience you bring:

  • College degree (BA/BS) with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (Master's degree in Real Estate, Finance, or MBA is strongly preferred).
  • 3+ years experience working in mortgage lending, private equity, private credit, or investment banking strongly preferred.
  • Existing knowledge of real estate finance, private equity and credit, and portfolio construction and management.
  • Broad understanding of real estate and financial markets.
  • Exceptional math and analytical skills, as well as communication and presentation abilities.
  • Positive attitude, courageousness, collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Driven, self-motivated, and intellectually inquisitive.
