Position Summary

Oceaneering's Marine Services Division (MSD) is seeking an Engineer II to support engineering and design activities in Chesapeake, VA. The Engineer II applies a working knowledge of engineering fundamentals to the division's engineering and design activities under the direction of a Project Engineer or Design Engineering Manager. The Engineer II will also be required to interact with other company personnel including those in QA, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, as necessary to provide engineering support to manufacturing, integration, and test activities.


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs moderately difficult engineering tasks to completion that may include a variety of design features, conflicting design requirements, unusual materials requirements, and the need to coordinate the work of others.
  • Exhibit good technical judgment, and appreciable independent evaluation, creativity, and latitude in making decisions.
  • Demonstrate ability to devise innovative solutions to problems.
  • Develops objectives, schedules, and estimates for difficult assignments.
  • Review progress and evaluate results of work accomplished by self.
  • Assess vendors for competence, capabilities, and resources.
  • Review/approve Engineering Work Packages (e.g. TGIs) related to project.
  • Review/approve Engineering Change documents (e.g. CRs, LARs, DFSs) related to project.
  • Review/approve Engineering designs, models, drawings and calculation packages.
  • Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
  • May assist in Bid and Proposal efforts including cost estimating, technical approach definition, and input to baseline schedule data.
  • May participate in Technical Working Groups to assess and improve processes and capabilities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean or Nuclear) or Naval Architecture from accredited college or university.
  • Minimum two (2) years engineering experience in complex systems design, manufacturing, and integration environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks or similar packages.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

DESIRED:

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Proficiency in Mathcad, SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 design requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Good communications and organizational skills.
  • Understands Finite Element Analysis - particularly SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Workbench, working knowledge of both is preferrable.
  • Experience performing Dynamic Design Analysis Method (DDAM) is a plus.
  • Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in one or more engineering fields.
