JOB OVERVIEW
Senior Project Manager to support a wide array of IT projects. These projects range from simple IT acquisition support to new office build outs and re-locations. The Senior Project Manager will work independently and support Federal IT Project Managers. The Senior Project Manager will assist by creating and maintaining schedules, cost estimates, aligning requests with enterprise architecture and security standards, and interacting with the client to validate requirements and timetables.
Responsibilities
Serves as the Senior Project Manager for a large, complex task order (or a group of task orders affecting the same common/standard/migration system) and shall assist the Program Manager in working with the Government Contracting Officer (CO), the task order-level Task Managers (TM), Government management personnel and customer agency representatives. Under the guidance of the Program Manager, responsible for the overall management of the specific task order(s) and insuring that the technical solutions and schedules in the task order are implemented in a timely manner. Performs enterprise wide horizontal integration planning and interfaces to other functional systems, including the development of conceptual systems requirements; systems integration requirements; systems phasing plan; business application consultation; problem tracking/management; and preparation and delivery of presentations. Provides technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Establishes goals and plans that meet project objectives. Has domain and expert technical knowledge. Directs and controls activities for a client, having overall responsibility for financial management, methods, and staffing to ensure that technical requirements are met. Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management. Decision making and domain knowledge may have a critical impact on overall project implementation. May supervise others.
Analyze and define the overall IT requirement for the site including equipment, cabling, circuits, logistics, and track each approved project to completion.
- Support in the management and processing of approved IT Service Requests, to include, but are not limited to office relocations, provisioning new facilities, renovations, and/or expansion of existing facilities. - Ensure that project activities and deliverables are accomplished within the general scope of the task order on time.
- Work collaboratively with Network Engineering to ensure that proposed designs will meet client requirements
- Ensure effective communications and collaboration with the DHS Office of Facilities and Asset Management through weekly meeting and project status reporting
- Schedule a site survey to obtain specific data for the site
- Prepare needs analysis documents
- Track all Migration related costs using DHS supplied standard templates
- Maintain the master project schedule
- Create ITSR's via Remedy for wide area network (WAN) connectivity to new sites, site upgrades, or site relocations
- General IT Knowledge
- Extensive Experience with the Agile process
- Extensive Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office
- This position located in downtown Washington, DC. Some telework may be available.
- Prepare procurement requisitions for equipment, determine equipment delivery schedules, and track equipment warranty coverage
- Communicate with field points of contact and IT Field Operations (ITFO) to advise them of equipment orders, delivery schedules, and planned installation dates
- Maintain current site address and contact information for all sites using a Government provided template
- Provide client feedback survey metrics using a client satisfaction survey instrument provided by DHS
- Report schedule variances/jeopardies
- Maintain Dashboard for ITSR projects and provide weekly status on all active, on-hold, and closed projects
- Manage complex projects with numerous communications components such as routers, switches, packet shapers, firewalls, and performance optimization appliances
- Meet with OCIO SMEs and customers to determine their infrastructure needs; make recommendations for systems implementation.
- Respond to Information Technology Service Request (ITSR)/Intake Program by receiving their requirements, develop Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM), and create/submit a requisition package to the IT Service Support Management (ITSSM) Project Manager.
- Provide technical support for the identification, development, and establishment of DHS standards, procedures, and guidelines
- Update security-related documentation as required
- Comply with the DHS System Lifecycle Management (SLM) process
- Reports as requested
