Safety Operator Qualifications Specialist

Purpose
This role will be responsible for the implementation of Teichert Energy & Utilities Group, Inc.'s Quality Management Program and Operator Qualification Compliance expectations in order to promote and maintain a culture of Quality and Compliance with respect to our client's standards and expectations. Specifically, ensures safe and compliant working conditions through inspections, reports, recommendations and training to promote safety and quality consciousness. This position will also perform a variety of tasks supporting the Safety and Compliance requirements for the company.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:

Technical/Specialty Area
  1. Actively supports the achievement of Safety and Quality goals and objectives by applying knowledge of industry regulations in Pipelines.
  2. Establishes, promotes, and protects the Company's values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others. Maintains a "team" spirit within the business unit. Works and cooperates with other disciplines (across company lines) to ensure maximum and best use of resources.
  3. Continuously strives to improve day-to-day processes and practices in safety and quality; ensures project activities remain focused on safety and quality; considers customer expectations and feedback to make recommendations for improvement.
  4. Collaborates across business units and builds consistency in quality and qualification practices and procedures on all project efforts. Ensures policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to as well as protect the company's interests.
  5. Actively supports administrative function goals and objectives through completing technical/ administrative projects accurately and on time, providing ongoing support as required, and proactively resolving challenges and issues as they pertain to office services.
  6. Aspires to achieve a zero injury culture through visible support of Teichert's Injury Prevention and Safety program, the implementation/interpretation of Quality Assurance programs, active facilitation or participation in Quality Assurance meetings and training sessions, and ensuring required compliance training for craft is completed; reviews compliance related topics with craft to keep them abreast of current changes/improvements to program; participates in conducting quality training and oversight for craft employees.
Contributes to the smooth operation of Teichert Energy & Utilities Group, Inc.'s safety compliance by providing support to the business unit which may include some or all of the following:
  1. Control calibrated measuring and test equipment used on the project.
  2. Keep calibration records and ensure that all testing equipment has current calibration records
  3. Evaluates compliance with PG&E guidance documents for maintenance and construction documentation per established quality review processes.
  4. Follows established corrective action process for quality findings, following the Corrective Action Plan when appropriate
  5. Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to inform, initiate, and ensure correction when discrepancies are found.
  6. Communicates with field personnel and supervisors to ensure resolution of issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  7. Communicates with peers inside and outside of the department providing information and exchanging ideas and data.
  8. Works independently and uses various methods, approaches and tactics to resolve problems and obtain solutions.
  9. Assess sub-contractors' capabilities to meet the quality requirements of the project as required.
  10. Assure that the contract obligations' for testing and record keeping are adhered to during an Audit.
  11. Adheres to data and record management as required
  12. Work Procedures and Standards & Policies pertaining to assigned QA/QC work.
  13. Ability to learn new concepts quickly and adapt to changing business conditions and ambiguity.
  14. Organizational skills.
  15. Ability to work in a team environment.
  16. Verbal and written communication skills.
  17. Conflict resolution skills including listening and persuasion to obtain compliance.
  18. Reviewing JSA's for safety and quality compliance
  19. Operator Qualification Compliance Audits
  20. Monitor Compliance messages for upcoming Audits and changes to Covered Tasks, than communicate those changes.

  • Craft, Construction, Materials, and Mobile Equipment Safety & Training Manager, Superintendents, Project Managers, Estimators, Area Manager, Regional Manager, General Superintendent, Chief Estimator and Corporate Director of Safety

Job Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, or a Construction related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.

Experience& Industry Expertise:
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in gas pipeline construction, pipeline materials, underground pipelines, along with an understanding of tools, and equipment. Or equivalent experience / knowledge in related field.

Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current on all company required safety and regulatory training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills required and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications
  • Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team
  • Problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Be able to communicate with people at a variety of levels within the organization (Leadman, Foreman, Superintendents, and upper Management). Be professional in engaging in Quality Assurance related issues.

Equipment Used:
  • Personal computer, telephone, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection)
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.
  • Work Environment: Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$108,333.00 - $151,667.00
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
