Application Window Open date: January 2, 2026 Next review date: Monday, Feb 2, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Jul 2, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Junior Specialist in Basic Biomedical Sciences The Graduate Medical Sciences Unit (GMU) at the University of California, San Francisco, in conjunction with PROPEL@ UC San Francisco, invites applications for four (4) Junior Specialists in basic biomedical sciences. The Junior Specialists will be actively involved in biomedical research studies including questions in cell, molecular, computational, and developmental biology or related fields. Candidates will be expected to devote 30 hours per week to research. Research (95%) may involve laboratory work, computation, data analysis, participating in laboratory group and other meetings, and assisting with writing manuscripts for publication. The Junior Specialist will assist the PI or other academic members of the lab in areas such as study design, collecting and interpreting data, and revising plans for future experiments. University Service (5%) includes mentoring undergraduates or others in the lab. Required Qualifications:

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
