MUST LIVE WITHIN 45 MILES OF CRETE AREA MEDICAL CENTER.

Independently practice Emergency Medicine with a backup physician available by phone and on-site within 15 minutes if needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Provides nursing and medical services to assigned patients according to the Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners as identified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or provides patient services to all patients in the Emergency Department under the direct and indirect supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician as a Physician Assistant. Services include, but are not limited to: ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests; prescription of pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies; and teaching and counseling individuals and groups. Works as a part of a care team to provide patient services specific to the Emergency Department.

Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to diagnose, treat and manage health problems.

YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS:

  • Conducts patient assessments including obtaining a relevant health and medical history; performs a physical examination based on age and history; performs or orders preventive and diagnostic procedures based on the patient's age and history and identifies health and medical risk factors.
  • Diagnoses patients by synthesizing and analyzing the collected data; formulates a differential diagnosis based on the history, physical examination and diagnostic test results.
  • Identifies and implements a patient treatment plan which may include ordering additional diagnostic tests; selects appropriate pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions; develops a patient education plan; makes appropriate treatment referrals.
  • Implements patient care plans based on scientific principles, theoretical knowledge, and clinical expertise; accurately conducts and interprets diagnostic tests; accurately prescribes pharmacologic agents and nonpharmacologic therapies.
  • Determines the effectiveness of patient treatment plans; documents patient care outcomes; reassesses and modifies treatment plans as necessary to achieve health and medical goals.
  • Provides relevant patient education regarding mental and physical health, including but not limited to: diet, disease, prevention, treatment and normal development.
  • Makes referrals to other health professionals and community agencies as needed. Refers and converses with appropriate consultants in regards to patient management and patient transfers when appropriate.
  • Participates as a team member in the provision of health and medical care; interacts and collaborates with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care.
  • Accurately and timely documents patient findings, treatment plans and evaluations; documents interventions appropriately to ensure coding compliance for reimbursement purposes in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws/rules and regulations and/or other CAMC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality per departmental and facility protocols and procedures.
  • Performs tasks, not prohibited by law, in which the nurse practitioner has been trained, is proficient to perform, and is within their scope of practice per CAMC policy/procedure.
  • Writes admission orders as requested by the accepting or admitting physician per hospital and department policy.
  • Active in the quality improvement activities of the CAMC Emergency Department.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.


YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES (PROVEN PERFORMANCE IN):



  • Graduation from an accredited Physician's Assistant program required. Current licensure in the State of Nebraska as a Physician Assistant required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Physician's Assistant preferred. Critical Access Hospital clinical experience preferred. Completion of the Crete Area Medical Center credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within 6 months of hire required.

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred. Critical Access Hospital clinical experience preferred. Completion of the Crete Area Medical Center credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
