Job Description
Statistical Analysis
Researches, designs, develops, and validates statistical models and methods to collect, summarize, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex data sets. Applies statistical theories to aid in the solution of research problems. Manages multiple large data sets. May design experiments, surveys, or opinion polls. Plans data collection and determines types and size of sample groups. Conducts surveys, evaluates reliability of source information, adjusts, and weighs raw data. Analyzes and interprets numerical data from surveys, experiments, studies, and other sources, and organizes results. Prepares conclusions and predictions based on data summaries. May participate in various forms of reporting or publication of results, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables. Utilizes knowledge of descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and statistical programming packages. May utilize artificial intelligence and/or machine learning techniques/methods.

Data Management
Focuses on ensuring the efficient and secure handling of data. Performs research activities to collect, manage, document and disseminate research data. Work includes processing data and metadata, performing data quality analysis, writing documentation, and supporting dissemination and use of the data. Creates variable coding systems, including standardized codes to apply a consistent coding scheme across datasets. Writes variable documentation by summarizing key information that is necessary to understand and appropriately use the data. Performs data quality checks throughout data processing and as part of documentation. At higher levels, develops workflows for all these tasks to promote efficiency and accuracy. Supports dissemination to individual researchers or through web data access systems. Creates user outreach material such as video tutorials or data training exercises. May publish scholarly work, including articles, books, book chapters, reports, and data releases. Work requires knowledge of standard statistical and data management software and can also include using customized software for specialized tasks. Substantive expertise in data collection is also beneficial.

Data Science (also in IT job family)
Conducts data analysis to extract knowledge and insights from complex, high dimensional and high-volume datasets. Uses data preparation, modeling and predictive modeling, analysis, processing, algorithms, and systems. Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose questions, and make valuable discoveries. Generates and tests hypotheses and analyzes and interprets the results of experiments. Conducts research and applies knowledge of existing and emerging data science to inform solutions across a broad array of functions and business decisions and presents findings. May utilize artificial intelligence and/or machine learning techniques/methods.

Data Analytics
Primarily focuses on extracting insights and knowledge from data. Perform analytics and statistical modeling on existing data for the purpose of scientific research. Define data requirements, and perform/design data collection, processing, cleaning, analysis, ad-hoc reporting, modeling, predictive modeling, and/or visualization. May build dashboards or custom reporting systems. Examine and identify data patterns and trends to aid research aims. Provide inputs for complex Data Science and Big Data Mining projects. Identify options to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processes. Collect, analyze, and document business requirements and translate into function and system requirement specifications. May utilize artificial intelligence and/or machine learning techniques/methods. Specialty Note: Less advanced than Data Science.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications
PhD with expertise in statistics.
Experience with data management, cleaning, and data analyses.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in supporting statistical efforts for Advanced Heart Failure.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $35.00 - $60.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
