Final Inspector - Optical Lab - The Final Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished eyewear to ensure it meets HOYA and ANSI optical and cosmetic quality standards. This role follows standard operating procedures to identify defects, communicate quality issues, and support overall production flow while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to read prescriptions, the ability to operate inspection equipment, and the ability to work collaboratively to meet production and quality goals.

Work Schedule-Day Shift

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect finished eyewear products in accordance with HOYA standard operating procedures and ANSI optical and cosmetic standards.

  • Verify prescription accuracy and overall product quality prior to shipment.

  • Identify, document, and communicate quality issues to the Supervisor or Manager.

  • Inspect jobs rejected by automated inspection equipment using manual lens meters and inspection tools.

  • Route work to designated departments as required to maintain production flow.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.

  • Load and monitor final inspection equipment and clear equipment errors as needed.

  • Cross-train within the Quality Control department and other lab areas as required.

  • Assist in other departments or lab operations to support business needs.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • ABO Certification preferred but not required

Experience

  • Previous optical laboratory experience required

  • Knowledge of eyeglass manufacturing processes and quality inspection standards

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret optical prescriptions

  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Proficiency with computers and automated equipment (Windows, MS Office)

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
