What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated, goal-orientedIndustrialEngineeringTechnician to help implementIndustrialEngineering and Lean Principles to the manufacturing processesat the Fremont Factory.Through a detailed understanding of the factoryobjectivesand extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, the IndustrialEngineeringTechnician will helpimprove processes to increase overall efficiency, capacity, quality, and safety.A successful candidate willdocument cost savings projects andquantify business impact.
What You'll Do
- Conduct time studies,validateand compile the data across work areas and communicate findings and improvement opportunities to engineers and leaders
- AssistIndustrialEngineers in developing and deploying efficient systems to integrate production associates, machines, material requirements, and information to achieveoptimalmanufacturingprocesses
- Collaborate withProductionManagement and cross-functional support teams toidentifymanufacturing constraints and execute solutions accordingly
- AssistEngineers andProductionManagementby collecting and summarizing datato plan work assignments based on production associate performance, machine capability, and production schedules
- Recommend and implement updates to Standard Work documentation to increase overall efficiency of operations
- Improve workstation safety and ergonomics
What You'll Bring
- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Ability to create and document Work Instructions, Layouts, and Charts.Ability to prepare diagrams (illustrate workflow,part routing, floor layouts, material handling, equipmentutilization, etc.)
- Understands the definitions of Takt time and Cycle Time
- Ability to collect statistical cycle time observations, analyze data, andidentifyopportunities to support optimization of processes
- Experience working with Standardized work (Work Instructions, 5S principles, Continuous improvement, JIT,Kanbanor standard Problem-Solving Methods)
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.Ability to multitask and work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Visio
- MODAPTS or other Predetermined Time Study methods
- 2+ years' experience working as a technician or production lead in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to interpret engineering / schematic drawings
- Data analysis software experiencewith one or more of the following- Tableau/Splunk/SQL/Python/VBA/ AutoCAD
- Understands the definitions of Throughput and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Understanding of Line Balancing methodologies and bottleneck identification

Expected Compensation
$30.50 - $44.84/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
