Inova Central Lab | Lab Technician Assistant 2 PSC Float | Full time, Day Shift |

Inova Central Lab is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC (LTA 2 PSC) to join the team. Full time, Float position - hours can vary from 6:30am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday with possible Saturdays 7:00am to 5:00pm. LTA float will be responsible for floating to cover sites mainly to primary care or OB offices in the Fairfax, Falls Church & Annandale area but if there is a need, they may float to other supervisor territories which could be anywhere in Northern Virginia area. The location they will be working at is communicated the day before but it is subject to change the day of.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage specimen accessioning and processing accurately/efficiently to provide quality specimens for Laboratory testing.
  • To help achieve our mission, you will perform proper specimen and/or blood products collections by confirming patient/donor identification, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques and accurately labeling the specimens/blood products to ensure accurate patient results.
  • Performing registration and reviewing billing information accurately/efficiently in order to ensure regulatory compliance is of vital importance.
  • Your ability to provide excellent patient and customer service by using AIDET principles and ensuring the correctness/quality of technical information/directions provided to customers is appropriate is required.
  • Traveling to assigned facilities and working seamlessly with teams to complete duties is expected.
  • Insure that all specimens received are done so accurately and prioritizes specimens after collections or as they arrive in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School diploma or GED equivalent
    • Completion of Phlebotomy training required: completion certification from a Phlebotomy program or another Allied Health Training program, such as Medical Assistant, MLT or MT.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment, laboratory or physician office environment including two years of phlebotomy experience and registration experience.
  • Certification:
    • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

Accurately and efficiently performing specimen accessioning and processing to ensure the integrity of specimens for laboratory testing.

Collecting specimens using venipuncture and capillary techniques, selecting the appropriate collection tubes, and accurately labeling specimens.
