Position Summary: Lead Clinical Social Worker - Psychiatry Consult Services

Are you an experienced clinical social worker who thrives in complex medical settings and values collaboration and systemic impact? The Senior Clinical Social Worker - Psychiatry Consult Services plays a crucial role in supporting patients with significant behavioral health and psychosocial complexities across inpatient medical and surgical services.

In this advanced consult position, you will work closely with interdisciplinary medical teams to assess and intervene with patients whose psychiatric and social factors affect their care, length of stay, and discharge planning. This role suits clinicians who excel in diagnostic thinking, real-time problem-solving, and shaping best practices.

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus



Key Responsibilities

Clinical Consultation & Patient Care



  • Conduct advanced biopsychosocial assessments for medically admitted patients needing psychiatric consultation.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies for patients with complex behavioral health and social determinants of health needs.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for medical teams on psychosocial formulation, risk management, and discharge barriers.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, and care management to ensure safe and timely care transitions.


Consultative Leadership & Systems Impact



  • Act as a clinical resource for complex cases and model best practices in social work consultation.
  • Help medical teams understand the impact of psychiatric and psychosocial factors on treatment adherence and recovery.
  • Identify systemic gaps and contribute to programmatic improvements within consult services.
  • Advocate for trauma-informed, patient-centered, and equity-focused care.


Supervision, Mentorship & Professional Development



  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to social work staff and trainees.
  • Support staff development through coaching, feedback, and reflective practice.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for consult social work practice.


Administrative & Operational Support



  • Assist with operational leadership in the absence of the Director.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of consult workflows and staffing models.
  • Adapt to evolving healthcare priorities and support staff during changes.



Required Qualifications

Education



  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.


Licensure



  • Current Maryland licensure at the LCSW-C level.
  • Consideration for candidates licensed in other states or with pending Maryland licensure per Board regulations.


Salary Range: Minimum 38.41/hour - Maximum 63.42/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
