For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. This bonus will be prorated for part-time positions. Please note this bonus is not available for per-diem positions. Nursing Unit Secretary - Operating Room (Req 56264)

Location: 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, ME
Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, consistent schedule, with one weekend rotation every three weekends
Remote: On-site only (no remote flexibility)

Position Summary

Maine Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary to support our Operating Room (OR) team. In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties, helping to ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position plays a vital role in supporting patient care and maintaining efficient communication within the unit.

About the Team

We are seeking someone with high energy, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic and demanding environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary receptionist for the unit, greeting patients, families, and visitors
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties to support nursing and clinical staff
  • Facilitate communication within the unit and with other departments
  • Assist with patient transport as needed
  • Maintain organization and workflow in a busy OR setting

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
  3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
