What you'll do

You'll be part of a small, collaborative team within Antenna Systems - Viasat Government, developing embedded software for high-rate modem products used in satellite ground stations worldwide. These systems support critical missions and enable reliable communications for our customers.

The day-to-day

  • Design, develop, and integrate software in C/C++
  • Work with Linux-based environments (embedded, server, and cloud)
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to develop drivers for FPGA-based platforms
  • Contribute to test automation and CI/CD pipelines
  • Debug and resolve complex integration issues
  • Participate in design reviews and documentation

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in C/C++ software development
  • Experience with Linux OS in embedded or server environments
  • Familiarity with cross-compilers and build systems (e.g., Make, Yocto)
  • Hands-on experience with Git or similar version control tools
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

What will help you on the job

  • Experience with Linux kernel driver development or BSP (e.g., u-boot)
  • Exposure to FPGA-based architectures
  • Familiarity with web-based UI development (JavaScript, HTML)
  • Experience with Python for scripting and automation
  • Knowledge of Docker containers
  • Familiarity with development on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Understanding of digital communications concepts
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for productivity

Salary range

$111,500.00 - $176,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $139,000.00- $208,000.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
