ABOUT THE ROLE

The Overnight Manager, Digital and Broadcast Operations supports operational oversight of streaming and distribution platforms during the overnight window, including FOX One, FOX Sports, FOX Nation, and supporting linear/network feeds.

This role bridges all operational departments at FOX Tech Center during the overnight hours.

  • As an overnight manager ensuring clean handoffs to and from daytime counterparts is a key function. This ensures a seamless 24/7 operation with no drop in productivity during overnight hours.

  • Actively lead and quickly escalate/mitigate transmission outages, malfunctions, and general technical issues to support teams. Limiting impact to consumers.

  • Manage the floor between multiple teams ensuring a unified operation that works as cohesively as one during overnight hours.

  • Oversees inbound contribution and outbound distribution for linear and digital transmission platforms.

You will support the overnight teams between Digital Operations, Media Control Center, and Master Control ensuring stream and signal health, cross-platform readiness, and a strong viewer experience. You'll partner with Sports, Entertainment, News, Engineering, and Media Operations to support and improve distribution solutions, often during overnight maintenance and deployment windows.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Operations Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary incident lead for overnight issues, owning communication, escalation, mitigation, and documentation for DOPs.

  • Direct and emphasize "eyes-on-glass" monitoring across live events, linear distribution, backend systems, app clients, APIs, and video performance to operators.

  • Coordinate live event coverage, including pre-flight checks, encoder validations, entitlement sweeps, and post-event validation (DVR, highlights, short-form).

  • Ensure the team is conducting regular app sweeps across digital portfolio including FOX One, FOX Sports, and FOX Nation clients to validate functionality and parity.

  • Deliver overnight incident and performance reports with trends and follow-ups to daytime leadership. Quickly engage and escalate outages and technical issues with on-call engineering, product, and broadcast partners.

Media Control Center Operations Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary incident lead for overnight issues, owning communication, escalation, mitigation, and documentation for MCC and BOPs

  • Support inbound contribution and outbound distribution for FOX networks and digital platforms overnight.

  • Oversee SCTE, traffic, CDN, and transmission dashboards for signal health, ad markers, and delivery quality.

  • Maintain and communicate accurate processes, procedures, runbooks, and operational databases.

  • Escalating on-air issues to leadership

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Maintain strong communication with Digital, Broadcast, Media, Engineering, and Network Operations to support incident resolution and planned overnight workflows.

  • Partner with Engineering and Product to test new distribution and monitoring solutions.

  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans and execution.

  • Collaborate with AdRise and Ad Tech partners to validate ad insertion and resolve ad-related alerts.

  • Work closely with Sports, Entertainment, and News teams and provide high-quality operational support.

People Management & Development

  • Manage overnight staff including shift oversight, performance feedback, scheduling, and coaching.

  • Build high-performing, multi-skilled teams that can flex across digital, linear, monitoring, and incident response.

  • Lead onboarding and training, ensuring access to tools, documentation, and support.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning in emerging tech, observability, and cloud-based workflows.

Process, Performance & Change Management

  • Develop and enforce operational SOPs, shift documentation, and readiness guides.

  • Own overnight shift handoff notes and communication into morning/daytime teams.

  • Execute production changes to digital systems, infrastructure, and platforms during overnight release windows.

  • Validate and monitor overnight deployments to ensure platform stability for daytime usage.

  • Ensure adherence to SLAs, SLOs, and quality standards across digital and linear platforms.

  • Identify and drive automation opportunities to reduce manual work and improve response times and reliability.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 3+ years as a direct manager of employees.

  • 5+ years in a production/operational role supporting digital products, streaming, broadcast operations, or similar 24/7 environments.

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, media streaming, digital video delivery, and modern monitoring/alerting solutions.

  • Strong understanding of network components and Internet protocols as they relate to video delivery and streaming.

  • Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure in live production environments.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with business, engineering, product, QA, and broadcast/media operations.

  • Ability to clearly represent overnight incidents and trends to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.

  • Experience with tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, Mux, Conviva, Touchstream, Mediacloud, LC3, and RTLM.

  • Experience in content operations workflows including ingestion, metadata, and distribution.

  • Willingness to work a primary overnight schedule, including weekends and some holidays.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Knowledge of industry standards such as AMWA and SMPTE.

  • Knowledge of SCTE 35 and 224, VAST or SSAI concepts, and ad quality validation

  • Understanding of CDN behavior and QoS and QoE metrics

  • Familiarity with video encoding and packaging, DRM, and entitlement

  • Exposure to media supply chain and OTT systems

  • Scripting or automation skills in Python or Bash, or experience using AI tools

  • Customer service or operations center experience

  • Multilingual fluency

SCHEDULE/SHIFT

  • Dedicated to the overnight shift in a 24/7/365 operations organization.

  • Core hours typically ~10:00 PM - 6:00 AM local time; exact hours based on business needs.

  • Regular weekend and holiday coverage may be required.

  • May be asked to respond to escalations outside core hours during critical events or deployments.

  • Primarily workstation-based with extended periods of computer use.

  • Ability to work in a control room/operations center environment with multiple monitors and low-light conditions.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-120,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
