Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator I that will be responsible for leading estimating efforts of gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates for large projects, and may also manage multiple projects.
Prepare trade partner strategy, invitations to bid, and budgets, ensuring complete pricing coverage and obtaining relevant documents, including BIM
Utilize Eos Cortex for cost modeling, value analysis, and target value delivery, performing cost studies and assisting design teams
Prepare or supervise preparation of self-performed work scopes, ensuring accurate pricing and proper allocation of costs, work hours, and quantities
Build and maintain relationships with operations personnel, design partners, trade partners, and owners, and maintain industry knowledge base
Lead by example, coach and mentor team members, advance group capabilities, assist in software selection, and effectively work with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
Detail-oriented; proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects, tasks, and initiatives in support of company and group improvement, with expertise in building and estimating techniques and software
Proficient in using BIM, plans, and other project documents to quantify work, and identifying resources to provide quality guidance during the design phase to keep projects on budget
Knowledgeable in all building systems, contract types, and other potential impacts to the project, using industry relationships to increase knowledge, problem-solve, and mitigate risk
Recognizes risk and works with design phase teams to mitigate it, with a thorough understanding of pricing, productivities for self-performed work, and maintaining data quality
Sets target budgets and completes cost models using cost history software (Cortex), understanding impacts to pricing, and completing large, complex self-performed estimates, including general conditions
Possesses understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices, with a proven positive and professional attitude, strong customer service skills, and active listening and effective communication

The base pay range for this role is $128,200 - $192,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
