Overview

SCCI is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Battle Management System (BMS) program. In this position, you willbe responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of test tools, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testbeds used to evaluate hardware designs and prototypes for advanced weapons control systems across the Battle Management System portfolio. This position is ideal for a hands-on developer who enjoys working with microcontrollers, single-board computers like Raspberry Pi, and in various IDEs to create robust testing solutions. The developer will collaborate closely with hardware and software design engineers to understand system requirements, design test harnesses, write test scripts, and analyze results to ensure our systems are reliable and meet project performance criteria. The developer will support the installation and assessment of these test systems locally and could be required to support remote events withCONUS travel up to 1 trip per quarter. This position is available for immediate hire and is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities:



  • Work tasking related to the design, development, and maintenance of a suite of test tools, simulators, and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testbeds used to evaluate hardware designs and prototypes for advanced weapons control systems
  • Support the installation and assessment of embedded systems locally and at external locations
  • Travel to external locations for remote events related to the BMS project you are supporting



Essential Skills and Experience:



  • Must be a U.S. Citizenand be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in computer engineering, computer science, and/or electrical engineering or equivalent experience such as direct hands-on experience with embedded software development background
  • Zero (0) to three (3) years of hands-on experience in a lab or project-based environment, with a strong background in embedded systems or hardware-software integration
  • Software development experience or knowledge of C#, Java, or C++
  • Demonstrated experience with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, STM32) and/or single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi)
  • Familiarity with common hardware communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN
  • Experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like VS Code, Eclipse, or similar for software development and debugging
  • Ability to read schematics and use basic lab equipment for troubleshooting, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Proficiency with a version control system, such as Git
  • Knowledge of higher-level languages like C# or Java for GUI development to create interactive test interfaces
  • Basic knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite and socket programming
  • Proficiency with widely used version control systems, such as Git
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and support multiple projects



Preferred Skills and Experience:



  • Knowledge and experience with weapon system integration
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of military standards, such as MIL-STD-1553 and UAI STANAG 4586
  • Experience with integration with GPS, sensor balls, safety interlock circuitry
