Fabrication Specialist I - 2855

The Fabrication Specialist fabricates aircraft parts and assemblies in accordance with Fabrication's PMA Manual, FAA requirements, GDMR-101, DUN-A-1 and Duncan approved procedures in a clean, safe and organized manner.

Essential Job Functions

1. With limited supervision, fabricates parts and assemblies from sheet metal, extruded aluminum, composites and other materials per FAA approved documents, and specifications and timeline requirements using all shop tooling and equipment.

2. With limited supervision, prepares and ensures accuracy of fabricated parts for welding, riveting and other assembly processes in accordance with approved practices and procedures.

3. With limited supervision, reads and interprets mechanical drawings and specifications.

4. With limited supervision, makes correct and timely entries on PMA inspection sheets and other required paperwork to indicate process completion steps. Maintains personal training log.

5. With limited supervision, uses appropriate corrosion control processes upon completion of parts and assemblies.

6. With limited supervision, performs basic troubleshooting skills.

7. Maintains current industry, equipment and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes, OJT and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications, FAR's, etc. Assists lesser-experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and the FAR's.

8. Available to work all department alternate shifts as needed, and able to accomplish road trips within the United States and also other countries as needed.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; respirator fit eligible
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hearing sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in noisy environments



Education and Experience

Fabrication Specialist I:



  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • One year parts fabrication, sheet metal or related experience required


Fabrication Specialist II:



  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Two years parts fabrication, sheet metal or related experience required


Fabrication Specialist III:



  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Four years parts fabrication, sheet metal or related experience required



Preferred Qualifications



  • 2+ years of aircraft structures/sheet metal experience in MRO or manufacturing (Levels II-III).
  • Experience working in an AS9100-certified aerospace environment.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations related to structural repair and fabrication.
  • Experience performing or supporting FAI and using basic inspection/quality software tools.
  • Prior work in an ITAR/CMMC-regulated facility or defense/aerospace environment
