ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Necessary for the performance of the job

  • Must be able to operate a forklift safely. - Required to complete a forklift safety course or possess forklift certification. Job involves working in yard, waiting on customers, sales counter, warehouse, inventory, loading customers, and delivery to customers.
  • Have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to climb into and out of the truck cab without assistance. Requires range of motion to the first step to the cab, which may be 17+ inches from the ground with a second step of 16 inches and a final step of 12 inches. Surfaces stepped down to and up from will be varied depending upon the job site delivered to. Frequency of activity - several times during the workday.
  • Must be able to climb up on to the back of a flatbed without assistance and pull and connect straps to secure loads: flatbed height of 60 inches from the ground. Straps require full range of motion for arms as well as ability to work securing mechanisms - pulling load of 60 pounds Frequency of activity - may be several times during the workday depending on work load.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently load or unload vendor and customer trucks by hand or forklift. Materials being handled with forklift will vary - from bags of concrete to lumber to uncut rebar. Weights of materials to load by hand will vary from 25 pounds to 115 pounds. Bags or boxes of materials with these weights may be carried by hand and/or off-loaded from a pallet from a fork lift
  • Frequency of activity - may several times during the workday depending upon the workload.
  • Must be able to push and pull the hood of a truck for purposes of check engine & fluid levels. Requires about 60 pounds of force for opening.
  • Frequency of activity - at the beginning of the workday or prior to driving truck for pre-trip.
  • Must be able to see and understand road signs; signs for directions at delivery sites; potential hazards on the road or at a construction site; and gauges and dials on a truck.
  • Must be able to visually determine that the truck is in good running order.
Qualifications

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to read, write, verbally communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English. Bi lingual in Spanish is a plus. Must be able to locate delivery sites from maps or other documents.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate directly with supervisors, co-workers and customers; using radio and/or telephone equipment with supervisors, co-workers and dispatchers; and with site personnel when making a delivery.
  • Must be able to fill out forms for purposes of reporting information - truck readiness; incident reports; accident reports; delivery receipts; etc.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics computations, including making change for customers, taking inventory and calculating weights.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours as well as Saturdays.
  • Must perform yard, warehouse and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Must maintain truck cleanliness and readiness to eliminate potential road hazards and make for good Company appearance.
  • Must be familiar with Department of Transportation rules and regulations as well as State truck driving rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain an on-time attendance work record.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Telephone and radio communications experience desired.
  • Concrete, Aggregate and Building products training preferred.

PERSONAL QUALITIES:

  • Ability to get along with customers and others.
  • Good customer service is required.
  • Ability to follow directions from supervisors and site managers.
  • Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $23.00 per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
