**WE ARE POSTING FOR BOTH AN HR COORDINATOR POSITION AND HR BUSINESS PARTNER, BUT PLAN TO HIRE JUST ONE OF THE TWO POSITIONS**

**POSITION MAY BE BASED AT ANY OF OURBRANCH LOCATIONS but preferred at one of the following: Des Moines, Atlantic, Mason City, Cedar Rapids, or Walcott/Quad Cities.

Overview/Function: The HR Business Partner plays a critical role on the HR team, as a business partner responsible for overseeing a variety of HR responsibilities in the areas of employee relations, staffing and talent acquisition, retention and employment programs, performance management, employee development, and training.

They assess and anticipate HR-related needs for the business and work directly with the business leaders to deliver value-added services which help to expand the corporate culture, enhance the employment experience for all employees, and mitigate areas of risk. HR is a partner with every department and must interact with the highest level of integrity and trust.

Major Responsibilities:



  • Oversee various human resource policies and procedures, supporting and ensuring compliance. Heavy emphasis on employee relations, staffing, and talent management.
  • Effectively partner and consult with management and employees, providing HR guidance and support. Work closely to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Work with department leaders to uphold the Tyler Tenets and to execute the business plan.
  • Manage and resolve complex employment issues. Effectively conduct thorough and objective investigations, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Work in all areas of employee relations including coaching and counseling employees at all levels of the organization, advising on performance improvement plans, and recommending action plans.
  • Plan, organize, and control HR-related activities. Participate in developing and implementing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Oversee selection and hiring efforts, including recruitment and job postings, interviewing, and on-boarding/orientation efforts. Develop job descriptions and job postings.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations. Represent company with unemployment, safety, compliance, and other legal HR issues.
  • Conduct Retention Interviews and Exit Interviews, analyze results, and make recommendations towards continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and input on business forecasting, career development, and succession planning.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Maintain Personnel Handbook.
  • Participate in department strategic and goal planning.
  • Administration of annual performance evaluation and feedback program.
  • Work with external HR partners on systems, programs, and on-going projects. (i.e. staffing, recruitment, relocation, compensation, benefits, etc.)
  • Monitor and conduct HR training programs (as needed), and follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs.
  • Maintain company organization charts and employee directory.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services supporting the business.
  • Maintain human resource information system records, keeping confidential HR information in strict confidence.
  • Develop, prepare, and generate standard and ad-hoc HR-related reports (such as headcount levels, turnover, recruitment metrics, etc.).
  • Manage internship program.
  • Coordinate company events.
  • Other related duties as required and assigned.

  • Bachelors degree with at least 4 years of progressive experience in human resources. Degree in Human Resource Management preferred. (Additional related HR experience may substitute for education.) MBA is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is strongly desired.
  • Experience in recruitment/selection and employee relations is required.
  • Prior experience with DOT-driver compliance is desired. Manufacturing background, and environmental compliance experience is helpful.
  • Solid experience with employment law regulations is needed, as well as a strong overall business-mind.
  • A positive, employee and customer-focused attitude is required.
  • Ability to respond promptly and appropriately in emergency situations is needed.
  • Strong decision-making skills. Must be able to accurately make immediate and independent decisions to resolve issues or problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. Effective training and presenting skills are also needed.
  • Excellent team-player; Strong ability to effectively interact with multiple departments with the ability to interact with the highest level of integrity and trust.
  • Strong problem resolution and analytical thinking skills. Ability to analyze and effectively solve complex problems, while under stressful situations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidential information.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt to varying situations.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office).



Additional:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position will be office-based, however will spend time at each of our facilities throughout the region. A variety of physical abilities are needed, such as the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, kneel, and bend as needed. The ability to climb stairs, stand, walk, twist, grasp, reach, push, pull, sit, stoop, crouch, and climb will be required.
  • Regional travel will be required (up to 25% of the time) to support our multiple locations throughout the territory, and for off-site recruitment efforts (i.e job fairs, college and high school partnerships).
  • The typical hours will be Monday-Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm) however some evening and weekend work may be required.
