Position Overview- This is a 12-month Apprentice Training Program. See requirements below

The Apprentice Epic Patient Access Analyst is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience in supporting the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications. Under the guidance of experienced analysts, this position will assist in system build, testing, and end-user support while learning the fundamentals of healthcare workflows and Epic functionality.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with Epic Configuration: Support customization and configuration of Epic applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Workflow Analysis: Observe and document clinical and administrative workflows to understand system requirements.
  • Testing & Validation: Participate in testing new builds, upgrades, and patches to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • End-User Support: Help troubleshoot basic issues and escalate complex problems to experienced analysts.
  • Training Support: Assist in creating user guides and training materials for member staff.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system changes, workflows, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with experienced analysts and clinical teams to learn best practices in healthcare IT.
  • Engage in training and development activities to build analytical and technical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

****PLEASE NOTE*** TO BE ELLIGIBLE FOR THE APPRENTICE PROGRAM. bullet points 1 and 2 are required. If you have not completed an OCHIN Workforce Training program, held a similar position with OCHIN for a minimum of 10- months and currently hold an EPIC Proficiency in Epic Clinical Applications, then you are NOT a candidate for this program.

  • Must have successfully completed an OCHIN workforce training program or have similar experience such as having held a position for at least 10 months within an OCHIN support team or a member site.
  • An Epic proficiency in Cadence, Prelude, RTE, Grand Central required
  • Interest in data analysis, problem solving and continuous learning.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare operations and EHR systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and willingness to learn new tools and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Prior to moving forward to the team interview, all candidates are required to complete a 50-60-minute competency assessment. The assessment gives us insights into how your strengths, preferences, and work style align with the OCHIN's nine core competencies. It's not about passing or failing-it's about understanding fit and setting you up for success.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, and customer service. Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations/teaching. Occasional decision making and independent judgment or action.
  • Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices.

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position. Work from home requirements are:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment
  • High Speed Internet Service
  • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace
  • No travel is required
