Human Factors Engineer

LOCATION: Remote

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Human Factors Engineer for the FAA - PSS contract, supporting the Civilian Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following or a related field: Physical Sciences (e.g., mathematics, physics, meteorology, chemistry), Applied or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, Sociology, Industrial Engineering)

    • 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • 1-20 years of relevant experience in human factors engineering or a related discipline

  • Experience in conducting human-computer interface analysis, human-in-the-loop evaluations, and ergonomic assessments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on human-centered system design

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Master's degree or MBA in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience)

  • Ph.D. in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience)

  • Experience with human factors in aviation, aerospace, defense, or complex technical systems

  • Familiarity with industry standards and methodologies such as MIL-STD-1472, ISO 9241, or HFES guidelines

  • Proficiency in usability testing tools, human performance modeling, or simulation environments

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform human factors engineering analysis related to human-computer interaction, ergonomics, kinematics, and situational awareness

  • Develop and evaluate human-in-the-loop scenarios to assess system usability and performance

  • Conduct studies to support the development and integration of human-centered design concepts and operational requirements

  • Apply ergonomic principles to the design of systems, workspaces, and user interfaces

  • Analyze cognitive and physical demands to optimize human-system integration

  • Prepare technical reports, evaluations, and recommendations to inform design improvements

  • Collaborate with system designers, engineers, and stakeholders to implement human factors best practices

  • Support testing and validation of system interfaces and user interactions
