Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicing Technician to support inside plant (ISP) fiber optic installation and splicing within commercial and data center environments. This role focuses primarily on fiber splicing-both single strand and ribbon-while also performing installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic cabling. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of hands-on fiber experience, a strong understanding of fusion and ribbon splicing techniques, and a commitment to safety, precision, and quality workmanship. Job Responsibilities * Perform fusion and ribbon splicing for single-mode and multi-mode fiber * Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling in commercial and data center environments * Route and dress fiber cables through pathways, trays, and racks according to design specifications * Construct and maintain IT closets (MDFs and IDFs), including racks, trays, and sleeves * Execute cable dressing and management into network equipment and outlet locations * Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and installation documentation accurately * Maintain fiber cleanliness standards and perform continuity and power meter testing * Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols at all times * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment * Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project managers to meet deadlines and quality standards Job Requirements * High school diploma or GED required * Minimum of 2 years of hands-on fiber optic installation and splicing experience * Proven experience with both single strand and ribbon splicing; Fujikura or Sumitomo splicers preferred * Proficiency with fiber terminations (LC, SC, ST connectors) and testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, VFL) * OSHA 10 and Scissor Lift Certification preferred * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications * Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces * Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. * Must provide personal hand tools and required PPE (steel/composite toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, etc.) * Willingness to travel as needed based on project requirements Additional Job Details This position focuses on indoor fiber splicing within ISP environments, though familiarity with OSP-to-ISP transition cabling is preferred. The role requires a self-motivated technician with excellent technical aptitude and attention to detail who can perform high-quality splicing and testing with minimal supervision.
