Overview:

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs to minimize occupational hazards and ensure regulatory compliance within the Telecom and Low Voltage industry. This role involves conducting site inspections, leading safety trainings, investigating incidents, and collaborating with operations teams to promote a safe working environment. The position requires strong knowledge of construction safety practices, the ability to interpret safety data, and a proactive approach to risk management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses.
  • Evaluate potential extent of injuries and losses resulting from accidents.
  • Develop accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
  • Coordinate safety activities of the ITS Business Unit to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout the organization.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning standards, injuries, illness and accidents and prepare reports for information of personnel concerned.


Job Tasks:

  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
  • Develop and mentor employees and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Inspect facilities, tools and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Investigate work related accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Review plans and specifications determine whether safety requirements have been met.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations site inspections
  • Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct Safety & Health inspection violations.
  • Maintain & apply knowledge of current safety policies, regulations, and operational processes.
  • Conduct or facilitate supervisory and field level training of business unit personnel.
  • Administer and ensure training policy compliance for the ITS Business Unit.
  • Conduct meetings, toolbox talks with Operations Supervisors and Foreman to discuss standards, cited violations, lessons learned, and potential hazards and to resolve disputes regarding occupational safety issues.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years related experience and training in a safety management position.
  • Strong knowledge of construction environments.
  • Current certifications or in pursuit of any of the following certifications are preferred:
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)
  • OSHA 500 or 510 Certified.
  • Physical Requirement: Ability to stand and/or walk the job site throughout your shift.
