We are hiring for a Structured Cabling Project Manager to join a growing team offering continued industry training and a career path. This is a contract-to-hire role.

Summary:

The Structured Cabling Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of structured cabling projects-spanning copper, fiber optic, and low voltage systems-for commercial, data center, and government environments. This role covers all phases of the project lifecycle including planning, procurement, resource allocation, field coordination, budgeting, quality control, and close-out documentation.

You'll work closely with general contractors, electricians, cabling technicians, and internal account managers to ensure timely and successful completion of projects according to client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of structured cabling project delivery from pre-sales to closeout.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, labor plans, and material forecasts.
  • Coordinate field resources, subcontractors, and technicians for installations of Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a, fiber, and related systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to industry standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA) and client specifications.
  • Monitor project budgets, track labor and material costs, and generate progress reports.
  • Proactively manage project risks and ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients during project execution; ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Obtain and process change orders as needed based on project scope adjustments.
  • Ensure timely invoicing and support billing accuracy by maintaining documentation and system data integrity.
  • Conduct regular site walks, safety inspections, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Support account growth by identifying additional low voltage service opportunities (AV, DAS, Security, Wireless, etc.).
  • Maintain alignment between project documentation: contract, scope of work, estimates, and invoicing.
  • Perform weekly reviews of field reports, budget trackers, project milestones, and billing schedules.


Job Skills & Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of structured cabling installation and project workflows.
  • Familiarity with cable pathways, IDF/MDF buildouts, rack and stack, patch panel termination, labeling, and testing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage client expectations.
  • Highly organized with effective time and resource management.
  • Adept in both team environments and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive problem-solver and quick decision-maker in the field.
  • Comfortable reviewing CAD drawings, site layouts, and riser diagrams.


Job Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in structured cabling or low voltage project management.
  • Prior experience managing multi-site rollouts or large commercial cabling projects.
  • College degree or associate degree preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • RCDD certification is a strong plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with project tracking software and construction documentation.
  • Physical ability to conduct job site walkthroughs and field evaluations.
