Lead Data Center Technician

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure alignment with schedules, directives, and requests.
  • Provide weekly updates on project progress, consolidating input from team leads.
  • Attend regular project sync meetings to discuss updates, challenges, and progress.
  • Monitor scheduled milestones, productivity metrics, and overall project timelines.
  • Oversee site safety, ensuring compliance with safety standards and certifications.
  • Coordinate with engineers and other contractors to facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Manage project labor and ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Conduct quality checks in collaboration with QA/QC specialists before final reviews with engineers.
  • Maintain high standards of work quality in alignment with client expectations.
  • Assess the strengths and areas for improvement of team leads and recommend appropriate training.
  • Ensure team compliance with client rules, guidelines, and operational processes.
  • Validate project data, material requirements, and track efficiency, quality, and delivery.
  • Participate in design and build review meetings as needed.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, software, and systems, as guided by project management.
  • Provide assistance for both new deployments and ongoing production requests.
  • Promote safety practices and ensure standards are met during and after project installations.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in cabling technologies, rack infrastructure, and managing large-scale projects.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate multiple crews effectively.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in forecasting labor and Client requirements.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
  • Experience documenting lessons learned from projects.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and port maps.
  • Skilled in managing medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure components, including copper and fiber installations, terminations, certifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Fiber Installer (CFI), Certified Cabling Test Technician (CFTT), or equivalent (e.g., BICSI, FOA).
  • Familiarity with regional installation standards and building codes.
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify team strengths and foster professional growth.
  • Knowledgeable in job safety requirements and appropriate points of contact for safety matters.
