| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Health Behavior is one of seven departments in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina. Founded in 1943, the Department develops, and disseminates knowledge and interventions that promotes the health of individuals and communities. The Department's 25 faculty members have backgrounds in behavioral science, health education, international health, social and cognitive psychology, medicine, medical sociology, and communications, and are united by their commitment to the disciplines of public health together with the social and behavioral sciences. |
| Position Summary |
The Policy Insights Lab at the University of North Carolina is seeking a part-time (approximately 5-10 hours/week) data analyst to support data management and reporting for ongoing behavioral and clinical research studies. The role will start
ASAP and will last through approximately June 2026. The Data Manager will play a key role in reshaping, cleaning, and organizing datasets to ensure compliance with data submission requirements for internal and external repositories.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Conduct data cleaning, variable recoding, and restructuring for submission to OnCore.
* Assist with checking code for various projects.
* Work collaboratively with study investigators, project managers, and research assistants to ensure data integrity and consistency across studies.
* Maintain clear documentation of data management processes and coding decisions. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Demonstrated competencies to perform the necessary tasks is required. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Strong experience with data cleaning and reshaping using R,
SAS,
STATA, or
SPSS
* Familiarity with clinical trial or behavioral research data structures preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Bachelor's in statistics, biostatistics, data science or related field |
