Position Highlights

The Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS) in the College of Engineering at the University of Arizona works with partnering agencies and institutions on research and education in transportation systems management and operations, and performance management, as well as mobility on demand.

The University of Arizona seeks a qualified applicant for the position of Database Administrator for our Tucson area location.

The Database Administrator will provide systematical solutions to support the service in transportation research and help the center to manage inventory, database design and management, programming projects, and IT device maintenance using the knowledge of Information Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big Data Technology; Consulting & Solution Architecture.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science, or foreign equivalent.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The
    Database Administrator will provide systematical
    solutions to support the service in transportation research and help the center
    to manage inventory, database design and management, programming projects, and
    IT device maintenance using the
    knowledge of Information Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big
    Data Technology; Consulting & Solution Architecture.
  • Design databases for storing transportation-related data and support
    transportation analysis, project needs, and application features using the knowledge of Information
    Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big Data Technology; Consulting & Solution Architecture.
  • Optimize databases for fast data retrieval and handle
    data sharing and integration with various applications using the knowledge of
    Information Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big Data
    Technology; Consulting & Solution Architecture.
  • Design and maintain
    data management lifecycle; document system operation; and spec and set up new
    servers using the knowledge of Information Systems Analysis and Design; Data
    Management & Big Data Technology; Consulting & Solution
    Architecture.
  • Mentor students in data visualization and analysis, and
    developing new modules in SMART Tools using the knowledge of Information
    Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big Data Technology;
    Consulting & Solution Architecture.
  • Repair and set up computers for
    the center and provide software and hardware support for center staff using the
    knowledge of Information Systems Analysis and Design; Data Management & Big
    Data Technology; Consulting & Solution Architecture.
