Surgery Coding Rep

Anticipated workdays are Monday - Friday with hours between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the work being performed remotely. The position is a six-month temporary with an option to extend six months. The pay is $35.09 per hour.

You must have an active CPC certification with at least one year of specialized coding in surgery.

The duties are:

Review medical records to assign CPT/HCPCS and/or ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes consistent with coding compliance policies, ICD-10-CM/PCS Official Coding Guidelines, and regulatory guidelines.

Monitor compliance/coding standards and policies to ensure Iowa Health Care receives full and accurate reimbursement for services that comply with HIPAA as well as coding and payment rules/regulations.

Collaborate with physicians, residents, staff, and other healthcare providers to address situations where the recommended coded service is not supported by health record documentation or does not align with coding and regulatory guidelines. Obtain additional information as needed to ensure accurate and compliant code assignment

Achieve established performance targets for coding volume and accuracy as defined by the Coding Supervisor and/or Management.

Adopt and incorporate initiatives that improve compliance and reduce risks to the institution.

Assist in providing and analyzing reports related to documentation issues, coding patterns, physician productivity, reimbursement trends, etc.
