About the role

EPC Project Leader

Reworld seeks an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Project Leader in the infrastructure industry to oversee the successful execution and commissioning of complex and large infrastructure projects related to the power plant, waste-to-energy (WtE), or oil & gas industries.

This role requires expert leadership in working with large EPC companies with technical knowledge of building waste-to-energy or thermal power plants, with strong financial acumen, contract and cost management, and a deep understanding of environmental regulations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements.

Spring Hill, FL (Ideal). We are looking for someone based in FL, ideally in the Spring Hill, FL area (Pasco WTE/TTF facility). We may be open to candidates from other locations.

Key responsibilities
  • Serves as the company's primary interface with the EPC contractor at the executive level and holds the EPC accountable for deliverables in schedule and cost.

  • Leads contract strategy, interpretation, and enforcement to ensure the EPC agreement is executed in line with company objectives.

  • Oversees and coordinates all change order claims and dispute resolution processes, ensuring proactive management and mitigation of risks.

  • Partners closely with internal and external legal counsel to develop and execute contractual and litigation strategies when required.

  • Drives alignment across engineering, procurement, finance, and operations teams on all EPC-related matters.

  • Supervises all matters related to construction schedule, safety, and job completion say-do ratio with the site team.

  • Ensures compliance with all contractual milestones, deliverables, and performance guarantees.

  • Develops and implements a governance framework for EPC oversight, including progress reporting, issue escalation, and decision-making protocols.

  • Provides strategic input to leadership regarding contract performance, cost recovery, and risk exposure.

  • Leads commercial negotiations and ensures the company's rights and remedies are preserved at every stage.

  • Acts as a key advisor to the executive team on project risk, contractual exposure, and mitigation strategies.

Key qualifications Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant EPC project management experience, with a significant portion in the power industry, WtE, or oil & gas infrastructure projects.

  • Specific industry experience:Proven experience with the design and construction of either WtE or coal-fired power plants in US or abroad at the scale of $1B+ project value.

  • Regulatory experience:Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with federal (e.g., EPA), state, and local environmental regulations.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Technical and professional skills
  • Waste to Energy:Deep understanding and experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of waste-to-energy plants in the US or abroad.

  • Thermal Power Plants: Deep understanding and experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of coal-fired power plants in the US or abroad.

  • Project management proficiency:Expertise in project planning and forecasting, using industry-standard tools like MS Project or Primavera.

  • Financial and contractual management:Strong skills in budget management, cost control, and contract administration.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving:Ability to find creative and compliant solutions to complex issues.

Interpersonal and soft skills
  • Exceptional communication:Strong verbal and written skills, with experience communicating technical information to diverse stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

  • Leadership and team building:Proven ability to motivate, supervise, and build trust with a diverse project team.

  • Negotiation skills:Experience with negotiating with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
