CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: The Product Stewardship Raw Material Advisor is a specialized role to maintain compliance, support acquisitions, and enable product stewardship global processes. The responsibilities of the position require deep regulatory knowledge, technical expertise, and cross-functional leadership. Specifically, the Raw Material Advisor will provide acquisition and integration support; Sphera Intelligent Authoring (IA) raw material system management; complex regulatory classifications, including reconciling substance identities across jurisdictions; global regulatory issue resolution for raw materials; and system support for non-routine data, including blends and purchased finished goods. Duties include, but are not limited to: (1) REGULATORY ASSESSMENT OF RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED GOODS:
- Evaluate the impact of new or changing regulations to raw materials and finished goods
- Communicate regulatory and system updates to internal teams and participate in development of action plans
- Where appropriate, act as the Sherwin-Williams regulatory representative with outside parties such as vendors and service providers
- Act as an internal subject matter expert to address conflicting regulatory data
(2) PROJECT AND SYSTEM MANAGEMENT:
- Lead cross-functional projects related to regulatory compliance and raw material assessments
- Develop and manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure timely execution
- Enable communication between internal teams and external stakeholders to align project goals
- Track progress and provide regular updates to leadership on project status and risks
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of regulatory systems and databases
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within compliance tracking systems
- Collaborate with IT and business units to enhance system functionality and user experience
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain operational efficiency
(3) CUSTOMER SUPPORT:
- Respond to non-routine and complex internal and external customer inquiries
- Present information and provide training on new and changing regulations and systems
- Respond to agency or Legal inquiries, with guidance from Legal
- Provide input for internal newsletters
(4) CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
- Act as a regulatory representative on IT projects requiring system upgrades, enhancements, or changes
- Drive continuous improvement projects with focus on cross-functional and regional improvements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: FORMAL EDUCATION: Required:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in sciences such as chemistry, engineering, industrial hygiene, or similar
Preferred:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in sciences such as chemistry, engineering, industrial hygiene, or similar
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required:
- 5+ years' experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs
- Proven experience managing regulatory requirements for raw materials and finished goods
Preferred:
- 8+ years' experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs
- Experience with global regulatory requirements
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required:
- Expertise in Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulations.
- Experience defining or implementing requirements for regulatory or formula management systems
- Experience in paint & coatings or chemical industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal team members, cross-functional stakeholders, and IT partners.
- Attention to detail.
- Organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced team environment, both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Experience defining or implementing requirements for Sherwin-Williams internal regulatory and formula management systems, including HEARS, PV, and RMDM.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects.
- Proficiency in common project management methods such as chartering, user story writing, requirements gathering and documentation, status reporting, etc.
- Experience delivering technical presentations to diverse audiences.
