Introduction

The Loudoun County Office of Mapping and Geographic Information is responsible for maintaining the core components of the county's Geographic Information System (GIS), the computerized mapping system. The office provides internal data, mapping, and analytical services to county agencies and provides services to the public through web-based mapping and at the office's Public Information Counter.


Job Summary

The Loudoun County Office of Mapping and Geographic Information is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to serve as the GIS Addressing Coordinator. This position is responsible for administering the County's addressing and street naming ordinances and plays a key role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date geographic information. Core responsibilities include managing the GIS address layer, associated tables, and the Master Street Name Directory, as well as overseeing the addressing process for commercial and residential condominium developments. The role involves close collaboration with other GIS team members-particularly those responsible for parcels and street centerlines-as well as coordination with various departments and stakeholders, such as Public Safety, the Commissioner of the Revenue, Planning and Zoning, Building and Development, the County Attorney's Office, incorporated towns, engineering firms, and neighboring jurisdictions.

This position is part of a division that manages and distributes the County's core land records datasets, including parcels, addresses, street centerlines, and routing networks, all of which are essential to County operations and public services.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience working with GIS land records data and with deeds, plats, and condominium documents

* Experience in communicating with engineering professionals and the public about land records-technical experience in working with relational databases, to include joining, querying, analysis, and reporting

* Analytical skills to diagnose and identify solutions

* The ability to successfully explain complex land records issues to a non-technical audience

* Knowledge of or the ability to research and understand local and state code and ordinance pertaining to land records.

* Strong organizational skills

* Strong skills in communicating verbally and through writing

* Experience with Esri software such as ArcPro and ArcGIS Online


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field; two (2) years of related work experience in GIS services with functional or operational administrative experience in GIS along with database development and spatial modeling and analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
