Description

The QA Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, audits, and verifications of aircraft, components, and maintenance documentation to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company quality standards. This role supports the airworthiness and integrity of all maintenance, repair, and modification activities performed at the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  1. Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aircraft, components, and materials in accordance with FAA regulations (FAR Part 43, 145) and company Repair Station Manual/Quality Control Manual (RSM/QCM).
  2. Verify that all work performed is properly documented and that all required inspections are completed before aircraft release.
  3. Ensure that tools and test equipment are properly calibrated and maintained in accordance with quality procedures.
  4. Review and sign maintenance records, logbook entries, and work orders for accuracy and completeness.
  5. Conduct audits of hangar and shop areas to verify compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  6. Identify and document nonconformances, discrepancies, and corrective actions in accordance with company procedures.
  7. Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance personnel to resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
  8. Ensure parts and materials are traceable and accompanied by proper documentation and certification.
  9. Participate in internal and external audits, including FAA, customer, and AS9110/ISO audits as required.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of FAA regulations, customer specifications, and company policies.
  11. Support continuous improvement and training initiatives within the Quality Department.


Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:




  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational aviation training preferred.


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of aircraft inspection experience in a Part 145 repair station or equivalent MRO environment.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations, FAR Parts 43 and 145, and associated guidance materials.


  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools, measurement devices, and digital systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced maintenance environment.



COMPUTER SKILLS:




  • Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency in using inspection tools, measurement devices, and digital systems.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:




  • Technical school or A&P certificate required.
  • FAA IA Certification preferred.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:




  • Work is typically performed in hangars, shops, or on the flight line, with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS




  • Must be able to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work may be performed on elevated platforms or confined spaces.
