Examples of Duties

Teaching 40% A. Develops, implements and evaluates the Behavioral Medicine curriculum for the SIU Alton Family Medicine Residency Program. B. Directly oversees and may precept residents on the Behavioral Medicine rotation. C. Has primarily responsibility for the Behavioral Medicine component of the didactic conferences within the residency program. D. Develops, implements, manages and evaluates the Wellness Curriculum, wellness sessions, and Balint Group for the Family Medicine Residency Program. E. Participates in the education of resident and student learners as assigned by the Residency Program Director. Service 55% A. Consults with faculty and residents in strategizing development of management plans for behavioral health issues. B. Maintains communication with outside providers and community resources for resident educational opportunities. C. Maintains up to date behavioral health referral information for patient needs D. Participates in educational case consultations with residents and faculty. E. Participates in professional organizations consistent with activities required for position as directed by the Residency Program Director F. Participates in recruitment processes for the Residency Program G. Serves on residency and School committees as directed by the Residency Program Director. H. Provide direct patient care at the residency clinic as needed. Administration 0% Research 5% A. Participates in clinical and educational research as assigned appropriate for position in support of resident and faculty.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 1. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. 2. Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling 3. Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois 4. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. 5. Must possess excellent organizational skills and have ability to prioritize work efficiently. 6. Pleasant, courteous, professional and helpful manner is essential. 7. Effective interviewing and counseling skills. 8. Possess knowledge of and experience with mental and behavioral health principles, developmental stages through the life cycle, normal and abnormal development and psychopathology. Desired Qualifications 1. Experience working with a Family Medicine Residency Program and developing behavioral medicine curriculum. 2. Previous experience working effectively with physicians and other providers in primary care settings. 3. Knowledge, skills and experience in providing effective counseling services.

Supplemental Information

The budgeted annual salary range is $77,000 to $84,700. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Additional incentive compensation may also be available for clinical work performed beyond the standard scope of responsibilities.
