Senior Project Manager

PRINCIPLAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages multiple small to medium sized projects in both business application and infrastructure area
  • Initiate a project by first understanding the business problem and solution goals, then defining project objectives working closely with key stakeholders.
  • Lead and create project work breakdown structure working closely with project team members. Oversee creation of requirements. At times, may need to assist in documenting requirements. Manage scope throughout the project lifecycle
  • Create and manage end to end comprehensive detailed project schedule with task dependencies, milestones, and resource assignments
  • Manage project budget and mitigate variance against baseline
  • Plan, organize and manage testing activities. Effectively and efficiently orchestrate testing execution and defect management. At times, may need to assist in creating test cases
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues. Perform ongoing risk analysis and apply appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Understand the impact of the issue and resolve in a timely manner. Escalate risks and issues as necessary
  • Plan and manage project change control process. Lead change impact analysis and manage Change Control Board (CCB) for change decision
  • Plan and manage implementation and user go-live. Create and execute a detailed comprehensive implementation plan with small to medium dependencies. Identify, orchestrate and manage training and communication required for a successful user go-live
  • Regularly distribute project status to all stakeholders
  • Set clear expectations with all stakeholders, and continually manage expectations. Where needed, realign if expectations are different
  • Build and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project. Develop strong relationships across the organization to influence decisions and opinions to ensure success

  • Proficient in understanding, analyzing, planning, and synthesizing project details, both technical and

business aspects, in a clear and meaningful manner; and articulating concisely to all levels of

stakeholders. Able to dive into technical details if required

  • Proficient in proactively discovering, ascertaining and mitigating gaps, plan variances, impacts and risks to the project
  • Skillful in collaborating with business to develop and articulate business case. Experienced in leading discussion with stakeholders to collect and synthesize information
  • Skillful in evaluating project estimates to yield realistic and achievable goals
  • Skillful in rationalizing project costs and identifying potential ways to minimize costs
  • Skillful in leading and eliciting cooperation from others to take appropriate actions to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Proficient at performing what-if scenarios on scope, schedule and budget to determine project impacts
  • Proficient at clearly articulating and tailoring the communication content appropriately based on audience
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and processes. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Skillful in conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Skillful in interpreting communication styles of others who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines; and can tailor the style accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with an ability to be influential, persuasive, encouraging, and compelling.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication (written and oral) skills
  • 1+ years of experience with IT Project Management software (i.e. JIRA, MS Project)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years direct work experience in IT project management capacity, including all aspects of project planning and execution.
  • Experience managing projects within Workday, Salesforce, and other Windows based applications is highly preferred
  • 2 years managing projects with an application delivery team or PMO

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, business or a related technical or business field.
