Cost Accountant

We are excited to add a Cost Accountant to our growing Finance & Accounting team! This role will pay between $60,500 - $74,000 based on experience and educational credentials. This is a hybrid position working in our Marietta, GA headquarters.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Will work with the Cost Accounting team to monitor and report on all production/manufacturing aspects of the business. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on all inventory related activities from production to distribution. Key contributor to the month end closing and reporting processes, with direct communication with senior management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collect and analyze data to determine standard costs
• Create regular reports for production variances
• Create cost estimates for new products
• Assist in Month end close of the General Ledger
• Perform quarterly physical inventories
• Reporting operations financial results to upper management
• Perform re-costing processes and physical inventories
• Collect and compile data for audits
• Create financial metrics for senior management

• Performs full range of standard professional level work that typically requires processing and interpreting, more complex, less clearly defined issues.
• Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve
• Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in research/data

DECISION MAKING/SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:

• Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues
• Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process

SPAN OF CONTROL/COMPLEXITY:

• Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments that have direct impact on department results

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university
• 1-3 years of cost accounting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (strong focus on Microsoft Excel)
• Excellent analytical skills. Sound understanding of accounting principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
• Computer literacy skills, especially with MS Excel and basic data entry and computation
• Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail
• Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines
• Respect for confidentiality of information laws and local ethics
• Expertise in activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs in relation to the overall direct cost of a line of products

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to sit/stand, walk, use hands/fingers/arms to handle, feel, or reach.
• Must be able to Use stairs/ladders or balance.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/EXPECTED BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Ability to travel quarterly (less than 15% travel)
