Position description

The Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences invites applications for a part-time (20 hours/week) Academic Coordinator position supporting students in three Master of Science programs: MS in Biological Sciences, MS in Biotechnology, and MS in Biotechnology Management.

Under the direction of the Program Director and working closely with graduate administrative staff, this position serves as a communication hub and coordination facilitator for students in the three MS programs, bridging the Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences with the Paul Merage School of Business and other units (e.g. Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation) across campus.

The coordinator will help support scholars in the NSF S-STEM MILESTONE scholarship program-a $2M, six-year grant-by facilitating communication between stakeholders, coordinating scholar activities, and serving as liaison with the external program evaluator.

Key responsibilities include organizing career development workshops, networking events, and an annual advisory board meeting; coordinating a peer mentor program by communicating with students and managing stipend payments; attending student recruitment events; maintaining databases and websites; and contributing to annual progress reports and program communications.

Requirements include a BS or MS, with a focus in biological sciences or related discipline preferred; excellent communication skills with diverse constituencies; demonstrated ability to establish cooperative working relationships and facilitate collaboration across departments; strong organizational skills with ability to manage concurrent tasks and changing priorities; ability to work independently while coordinating with faculty, administrators, and students; high proficiency in MS Office Suite and web-based systems; and ability to maintain confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about science, education, and communication, with a talent for bringing people together and ensuring follow-through on collaborative initiatives.
