As a Coating Plasma Spray Technician, you'll be responsible for operating specialized plasma spray equipment to apply protective coatings onto aerospace components, following precise specifications and quality standards, by preparing parts, selecting the appropriate coating materials, and monitoring the plasma spray process to ensure consistent and accurate coating application on critical aircraft parts.

What you'll do:

  • Cleaning, masking, and grit blasting components according to specific requirements outlined in engineering drawings.
  • Setting up and adjusting plasma spray equipment, including selecting the appropriate coating materials, gas mixtures, and spray parameters.
  • Operating the plasma spray system to apply coatings to components, maintaining consistent spray patterns and coating thickness.
  • Performing in-process inspections using measuring tools to verify coating thickness, adhesion, and surface finish.
  • Maintaining detailed records of coating parameters, batch information, and quality inspection results.
  • Identifying and resolving issues related to the plasma spray process, including equipment malfunctions and coating defects.
  • Adhering to all safety procedures related to hazardous materials and high-temperature operations.
  • Will work in industrial setting with exposure to high heat, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Will wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirators.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • 6 months to 1 year minimum of knowledge of plasma spray technology, coating materials, and their properties.
  • 1 year of experience with dimensional inspection techniques and quality standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Previous experience with machine operation and troubleshooting basic mechanical issues such as CNC machines

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate coating application.
  • Ability to program CNC equipment, new product development.
  • Ability to consistently maintain high precision and quality standards in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
