In the role of a Research Scientist II you will be working in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Summary The position offers the role of a senior non-faculty researcher exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment at the intersection of molecular biology, nanomedicine, and translational cancer research. Primary Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments on RNA interference (RNAi) and gene silencing in cell and animal models.
- Develop and optimize siRNA formulations and encapsulation strategies in lipid- or nanoparticle-based delivery systems.
- Perform in vivo testing of siRNA-loaded nanoliposomes in disease models to evaluate biodistribution, target gene knockdown, and therapeutic efficacy.
- Analyze and interpret molecular, biochemical, and imaging data.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including molecular biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists.
- Oversee assignments to researchers, biostatisticians, data analysts, and other members of the research team including staff members, who gather, code, enter and track data.
- Review research methodologies; plan, develop and compose protocols for implementation, assessment, testing, cost effectiveness, and quality.
- Supervise staff including hiring, training, performance reviews, coaching and corrective actions; oversee daily operations of the laboratory.
- Train students, residents and post-doctoral fellows in specific research protocols; develop training materials.
- Develop, implement and maintain a computerized record system for reporting results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations; contribute to grant applications.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management
- Proven expertise in RNA interference, siRNA design, and gene silencing techniques.
- Hands-on experience in nanoparticle or liposome-based drug delivery systems.
- Experience with in vivo models (mouse handling, injections, and tissue analysis).
- Experience in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, microfluidic encapsulation, or targeted delivery strategies.
- Knowledge of in vivo imaging techniques and pharmacokinetic analysis.
- Background in cancer biology or RNA therapeutics development.
- Strong publication record and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
Preferred Schedule:
Between 7am to 5pm
Position Requirements:
Qualifications Minimum Required Education: PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy or a related field. Minimum Required Experience: 4 years Preferred Education: Postdoctoral Preferred Experience: 1-2 years Why MCW?
