Position Summary
The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Assistant Professor of Psychology position, which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. The position begins August 10, 2026. For best consideration, all application documents must be received by February 16, 2026, however, the positions will remain open until filled.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,500 each semester.

Salary: Base salary for the position is $57,000. An excellent package of benefits is provided. Summer teaching is possible and optional with additional compensation.
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 24 credit hours of classroom instruction across the academic year (fall and spring semesters). Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours as per UNM Valencia Campus policy. Also, there is expected participation in college committee, curriculum development initiatives, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teaching field), classroom technology training, departmental projects, and other areas of service and scholarship as appropriate. Special Instructions to Applicants: If selected for an interview, applicant should be prepared to present a teaching demonstration (subject matter to be announced and based on the candidate's area of expertise).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- At least one year of experience teaching Psychology courses at the post-secondary level, to include Introduction to Psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching a wide range of psychology courses.
- At least one year of experience teaching Psychology courses at a two-year or community college, to include Introduction to Psychology.
- Evidence of commitment to service and professional development.
- Experience teaching in a variety of modalities, such as online or hybrid/blended courses.
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of current teaching methodologies in active learning.
A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
