Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Clinical Informatics Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems that support patient care and operational efficiency across UCI enterprise. This role requires on-site support across the UCI enterprise including multiple healthcare facilities and specialty ambulatory clinics.
This role serves as the primary liaison between clinical, technical, and administrative teams to ensure that technology solutions align with clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, and institutional goals. The manager oversees staff engaged in informatics projects, ensuring effective collaboration, training, and performance management. They apply strong analytical, project management, and communication skills to drive data-driven decisions, improve clinical outcomes, and enhance user satisfaction. The position also supports innovation by identifying opportunities for system enhancement, process improvement, and the integration of emerging technologies that advance the organization's strategic priorities.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of clinical operations and understanding of clinical workflows within healthcare settings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, maintain schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of clinical informatics principles, system functionality, and data management practices, including security and quality assurance.
  • Proven ability to supervise, train, and support staff in daily operations and project tasks.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in clinical informatics or healthcare technology, including 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Experience implementing, supporting, or optimizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or other clinical systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with staff, clinicians, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in coordinating work assignments, managing small teams or projects, and promoting teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support operational goals and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to maintain positive relationships with end users and stakeholders.
  • Current RN license or equivalent clinical background preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage competing demands, and work effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of UC policies and procedures
  • Experience working for an academic medical center.
