The Department of Construction Management at East Carolina University (
ECU) is part of the College of Engineering and Technology, which includes the departments of Computer Science, Construction Management, Engineering, and Technology Systems.
ECU is located in Greenville, North Carolina. Faculty and staff in the College provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate degree opportunities and research and service programs that enable students to achieve their career goals and that promote a strong, sustainable future for our region. The department was established in 1984 and currently has 15 full-time faculty members serving over 900 undergraduate and graduate students. The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (
ACCE). The department also offers a Master of Science in Construction Management. |
| Job Duties |
The Department of Construction Management at
ECU invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor position, with an expected start date of August 17, 2026. This position is an academic year (9-month) appointment. The successful candidate for the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor rank will be expected to teach core construction management, undergraduate, and graduate courses with a focus on Surveying, Materials, Building Information Modeling (
BIM), Cost Control, Equipment Management, Construction Economics, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (
MEP) Systems in face-to-face and distance learning environments. The successful candidate will be also expected to conduct research in the areas of the candidate's expertise (such as Smart construction, Infrastructure Resilience, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Innovative Construction Systems and Materials), including seeking external funding, publishing in academic journals and conferences, and to provide service to the department, college, university, and profession including participating in program assessment and strategic planning, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, supervising student organizations, and to perform other duties as assigned.
The Tenure-Track Associate Professor rank will be expected to perform the same teaching, research and service duties as the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor rank described above and will be considered only for those candidates who have a minimum of five years of successful college/university teaching experience.

The candidate must have earned a PhD degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
All degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions or a foreign equivalent. |

| Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
The preferred candidate has three or more years of managerial experience in the US industry, evidence of successful teaching in construction management at the college/university level, excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to secure external funding, grants, and/or industry support, and demonstrated potential to develop and sustain an active research agenda. |
