Title: Project Coordinator - Prevention Grant Projects

$58,240 - $66,560 / Posted Thru: 11/21/2025



Location: Remote/Virtual - Must work and live in the state of Michigan



Purpose: Coordinate, monitor and provide technical assistance to the projects associated with Prevention Grants and Housing Project.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor, and provide technical assistance to Prevention Grant Projects at the State and Community levels.
  • Manage and monitor the budgetary documentations associated with coordination of the projects.
  • Provide training and technical resources for Prevention Grantees.
  • Convene and coordinate advisory groups, workgroups and sub-committees assigned to the projects, as needed.
  • Participate in all Prevention related stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Prepare all reports and deliverables required by the Notice of Grant Award for Prevention Grants.
  • Provide monitoring and oversight of Prevention Grants Evaluator activity.
  • Attend Prevention Grantee Meetings as required.
  • Provide monitoring and oversight for Prevention Grantee & Sub-Recipient Site Visit activity.
  • Participate in Site Visits as required.
  • Prepare agendas and coordinate meetings for the projects, as applicable.
  • Review grantee reports for submission to funders.
  • Represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in public health, health education, social work, education, or a related field. Master's Degree in the identified fields preferred. Knowledge of behavioral health or population health regarding women's substance use disorders and substance use disorder prevention strongly preferred.

Experience: At least one year of experience with assisting in the planning and administration of state and/or federal grant programs and contracts; preparation and presenting of reports to administration and/or federal grant sources; planning, coordinating programs and administrative activities of a complex, interrelated, and interdependent nature; interpreting complex rules and regulations; and communicating with others verbally and in writing.

Important Skills and Characteristics:



  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of the preparation of federal grant applications.
  • Knowledge of process and outcome evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the substance use disorder field.
  • Knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework and 6 CSAP Strategies.
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate grant activities of a complex, interrelated, and interdependent nature.
  • Ability to coordinate and expedite work projects.
  • Ability to coordinate and convene advisory group meetings and related workgroup.
  • Ability to present to advisory groups, partners, and stakeholders.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 75% to 100% of the time. Standard office environment. May require valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position. Moderate travel required within the state including occasional overnights and out of state travel to national meetings as required by the grant.



RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: Lead workers act as project leaders predominantly and/or coordinate the work activities of others. Does not directly supervise any staff.



IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS. Provides a valuable member to the team who will bring knowledge of Substance Use Disorder Prevention, appropriate prevention interventions and evidence-based strategies, and improve capacity to implement prevention services and coalition strategies in identified communities. The position will support the expansion of supportive housing to individuals who are chronically homeless and have mental health and substance use issues. Additionally, the position will further strengthen the relationship between MPHI and MDHHS, and support projects designed to benefit the citizens of Michigan.
