Title: Community Health Coordinator

$65,000-$75,000 / Posted thru: 11/21/2025

Limited term through September 2026



Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live and Work in the State of Michigan



Purpose: Coordinates day-to-day operations and provide general oversight of the Regional Health Advisory Councils (RHACs) Network. The Community Health Project Coordinator will be responsible for the RHACs' ensuring adherence of project evaluation and reporting requirements. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) - MI-TEaCH has funded ten community-level organizations with established connections for addressing pressing local health needs and fair access to opportunities for excluded populations, to function as a backbone organization (BBOs). The BBOs will support the formation of RHACs made up of community organizations serving populations disproportionately impacted by upstream economic and social factors that have led to differences in health outcomes.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day work and operations of the RHACs in collaboration with other project staff.
  • Oversee grantee development of budgets and scopes of work.
  • Direct and participate in the establishment, administration, and evaluation of RHAC programs or services.
  • Direct and participate in the development, interpretation, evaluation, and recommendation of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations for the effective operation of programs.
  • Maintain a database of all grant submissions inclusive of both pre and post award requirements.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to the RHACs as required by funder and/or MI-TEaCH Leader/Project Director.
  • Consult with grantees related to reporting requirements and timelines; ensuring timely receipt of grantee reports; review of grantee reports; and providing grant related updates to the MI-TEACH Leader/Project Director and MDHHS administration, upon request
  • Serve as liaison/primary contact for partners.
  • Provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to RHACs, contracted organizations, and other partners related to fair access and opportunities, as well as cultural responsiveness, data, and communication needs.
  • Work with the MI-TEaCH Grant Manager to develop and maintain a mechanism for programmatic and fiscal monitoring of funded contractors, including providing recommendations for corrective action(s), where necessary.
  • Support the BBOs in establishing and cultivating each RHACs with a focus on promoting fair access and opportunities, community driven priority setting, and efforts towards sustainability
  • Establish and maintain positive, strong, credible, professional and interpersonal relationships with all parties relevant to MI-TEaCH/CCEL/MDHHS projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and trends through research, external networking, and membership/participation in key organizations.
  • Remain current on literature in key programmatic areas.
  • Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major. Preferred - Possession of a master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Public or Business Administration or relevant health or social related field.



Experience: 4 years of professional experience post bachelor's degree in an equivalent position of this type. Two years of contact management, fiscal oversight and/or program development and implementation experience required. Two years of content expertise in the area of fair access and opportunities & cultural responsiveness preferred.

  • Complete work in timely manner and handle multiple tasks at one time with minimal or no supervision.
  • Knowledge of the principles of administrative management, including budgeting techniques, office procedures, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the initiation, development, accomplishment, and evaluation of public programs or services.
  • Ability to organize, evaluate, and present information effectively.
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with email/internet browser software.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: MI-TEaCH staff currently work remotely on a permanent basis. Hybrid options are available. Some in-person meetings. Routine physical activities: standing, sitting for long periods of time at a computer, walking, reaching and bending. Occasional physical activities: stooping, lifting, and carrying. Requires valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position. Frequent deadlines. In-state travel for training and/or meetings and out-of-state travel for responsibilities related to funding and duties.



RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS. This position directly impacts the quality of products, and the performance of project teams. Competent performance in this position has a substantial impact on the integrity and professional reputation of MI-TEACH including meeting the needs of partners in a timely manner and maintaining professional relationships.
